REDUCTION IN GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION BY USING SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS TO INCREASE THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS

The transportation industry is the major source of air pollution and the cause for an increase in Green House Gases (GHG) emissions globally. 30% of GHG and air pollution generated worldwide is due to the burning of fossil fuels for transportation. Vehicles create smoke which leads to the emission of harmful gasses like nitrous oxide, ozone particulate and many more harmful elements that lead to global warming. Due to the increasing population worldwide, its effects cannot be decreased merely by establishing norms to decrease each individual vehicle's carbon emissions. These effects can be minimized only by building a sustainable transportation system to increase the environmental and economic benefits to a great extent using renewable energy resources such as biofuels, solar energy, and hydrogen. Sustainable transportation reduces carbon emission and increases air quality by replacing the normal modes of transport by eco-friendly ways like walking, cycling, green vehicles, carpooling, eco-driving, etc., leading the future generation to live in a healthy environment. This paper introduces a novel GHG reduction technology for the global transformation system by providing an accurate measure of GHG gas emission. The technology used in this study increases the environmental benefits by reducing energy consumption, carbon emission, and air pollution. The eco-friendly methods implemented provide a cost-effective method by reducing fuel costs, maintenance costs and repair costs that occur in the normal modes of transport.
